      Simultaneous interpreting: this is when the interpreter translates (interprets) what the speaker is saying in real time. This type of interpreting is usually performed in soundproof in booths where translators work in pairs using the same language combination.

      Consecutive interpreting: this is when the interpreter takes notes while the speaker delivers a speech. In this case the Interpreter may take frequent breaks to interpret, or deliver everything in one go. Nowadays, consecutive interpreting is often used in press conferences, negotiations, business meetings, counselling or meetings between delegations.
